Position Information

Strathfield North Public School (580 students, 70% from a language background other than English) has a highly motivated staff who promote excellence through broad learning experiences and supportive welfare programs. All learning is supported by a strong technology program and a Bring Your Own Device Program for Years 5 and 6. Collaborative decision making is valued and the school enjoys a strong partnership with a very involved community. The school is widely recognised for its academic, cultural, artistic and sport achievements. The school receives equity funding to support students with Aboriginal backgrounds. Low Adjustment for Disability, English Language Proficiency and Low Socio-economic backgrounds. A team of Itinerant Support Teachers Hearing is based at Strathfield North Public School and provides support to students who are deaf and hard of hearing across the Strathfield, Granville, Auburn, Girraween and Parramatta school networks.

Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach students with hearing impairment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate quality, inclusive learning plans to meet the complex needs of students who are deaf and hard of hearing from age of diagnosis to year 12 across educational settings.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff, families and stakeholders.
  • Capacity to implement inclusive teaching practices that recognise the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of all students.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
