This is an early years Teacher of the Deaf position in an Inclusive Preschool Program with a maximum of 6 D/HH children in a mainstream setting.

The ad indicates the position is 0.5 but the preschool top up to make the position 0.6.

Position Descriptor:

This position involves working within the Inclusive Preschool Program and requires a qualified preschool Teacher, who is also a qualified Teacher of the Deaf working in a bi-lingual bi-modal role within a mainstream early childhood setting (Certificate 3 in Auslan, or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards Certificate 3).
The position requires the applicant to have the ability to communicate, plan and work collaboratively with a team of early childhood educators and support staff; experience in early childhood education; knowledge and experience with the Early Years Learning Framework, play based curriculum and inclusive principles and practices.
An understanding of working with Deaf parents/families; knowledge of Deaf education, including audiological management and evaluation of functional hearing and the use of hearing technologies is a key component of the role.
The applicant will also be required to develop collaborative and positive relationships with Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) preschool children and preschool children with DHH parent/s and Children of Deaf Adults, including liaising with educational sites, agencies and the wider Deaf community.
